North Carolina Cyber Security Awareness Month

The Governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper, named October as Cybersecurity Awareness Month to highlight the importance of staying safe online "Advances in digital technology make amazing opportunities possible but also open the door to more cyber attacks," Governor Cooper said Here are four simple ways to protect yourself, your family and your workplace:

1. Avoid clicking links or opening attachments in suspicious messages.
2. Use strong passwords and a password manager All passwords should be long, complex and unique Never reuse passwords.
3. Turn on multifactor authentication Multifactor authentication requires more than just a password, such as a text code or fingerprint.
4. Update software. Make sure your devices are running the latest version of operating systems, software and web browsers.
